Jerk Spiced Hummus

Jerk Spiced Hummus

🍴2-4 servings  ⏰ 30 minutes

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tin of chickpeas, drained & rinsed
  • 1 tsp bicarb
  • 1-2 cloves garlic
  • 1-2 tsp hot sauce
  • 2tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp Minnas jerk seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ice cube
  • 1-2 tbsp cold water
  • The juice from 1 whole lemon

 

METHOD

1. Prepare the Chickpeas:

  • Add the rinsed chickpeas into a sauce pan, cover with cold water. Add 1 tsp of bicarb then bring to the boil and cook on low for 5 mins.
  •  Allow to cool then remove the chickpea shells.

2. Make the Hummus:

  • Add the prepared chickpeas to a blender followed by the garlic, hot sauce, tahini, Minnas, salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice. Then blend.

3. For a smoother Hummus:

  •  Add the water and ice then give a final blend.
  • Place into an airtight container and top with more olive oil and a sprinkle of Minnas.

4. Serve:

Enjoy with warm bread, crackers or in your favourite wrap.
